INTO University of Exeter

The University of Exeter is a prestigious, highly ranked Russell Group university in the UK. The Streatham campus in Exeter, Devon is the University's largest campus, offering English and academic pathway programmes for international students at the INTO Centre that enable you to progress to one of the University’s acclaimed degree programmes.

History

The University of Exeter dates back to various educational bodies in the 1800s but was awarded its own degree awarding powers and royal charter in 1955. In 2007, Exeter partnered with INTO to help international students study at its beautiful campuses. Together, they created unique courses that help students get accustomed to life in the UK and improve their English language and academic skills.

Education

With the most subjects in the UK top 10 outside of Oxford and Cambridge (The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2019), the University of Exeter is the place to be if you want a strong, solid education that opens up employment opportunities. Start with an English language course or an International Foundation, International Year One or Graduate Diploma in anything from Accounting and Finance, Engineering, Mathematics and Biomedical & Environmental Sciences, to Business, Economics, Management and Law at INTO Exeter. Once you successfully complete your pathway, you’ll progress to the University of Exeter to study a degree in your chosen subject.

Research

As a ‘Russell Group’ research-intensive university, the University of Exeter is renowned for its research – 98% of which is internationally excellent (REF 2014). Leading in science, engineering, mathematics and medicine, Exeter’s research makes a difference across the world. One of the University’s most renowned innovations is the 1969 Exeter Hip – a Gold Standard prosthetic implant that has improved mobility for 2 million people, designed by an engineer at the University of Exeter and an NHS surgeon. Current research themes include Climate Change, Extrasolar Planets, Food Security and Global Uncertainties.

Career

Graduate employability is a priority at the University of Exeter. During your degree programme, you’ll have modules on employability and receive advice from Career Consultants – including CV writing, job application writing, interview prep and specialist career workshops. The University works with thousands of local, national and global employers to offer placement experience and create successful careers programmes, such as the Exeter Award – an employability achievement award that focuses on extracurricular activities, professional skills and workplace experience.

Student services

The Student Services team in the INTO Centre will support you in every way during your studies, from the moment you arrive to the moment you graduate. They will be there for any issues ranging from renewing your visa and opening a bank account, to making new friends and settling into the local area. When you progress to the University, there are dedicated International Student Advisers to give you advice about travel, visas and living in the UK. You can even apply for the Global Chums Mentoring Scheme get paired up with a mentor – someone who will help you to socialise, meet new people and settle into university life.

Housing services

INTO University of Exeter students can choose to live on campus just a 15 minute walk from the INTO Centre, or with carefully selected homestay hosts. Campus accommodation offers a comfortable and safe living space in either a Twin Studio with a private bathroom and kitchenette shared with another student, a Single Studio with an en suite bathroom and a kitchenette, or Single En Suite Bedroom with an en suite bathroom and a shared kitchen.

Campus life

The University of Exeter has several campuses – the Streatham and St Luke's campuses in Exeter and the Penryn and Truro campuses in Cornwall. As an INTO student, you’ll live and study at the Streatham campus where the majority of students are based. This beautiful campus is set in gardens, parkland and lakes, only a 15 minute walk from Exeter city centre. You’ll have access to the University’s study and social facilities on campus, including The Forum – a stunning £48 million centrepiece that is home to the impressive 24/7 library. Visit the Northcott Theatre to watch music, dancing and theatre productions, or head to the Bill Douglas Cinema Museum to see one of the largest TV and film collections in the UK.

Sports facilities

The Sports Park on the Streatham campus contains some of the region’s best sports facilities, including tennis courts, swimming pools, golf practice greens, all-weather astro pitches, squash courts, a double sports hall, and amenities for performance training and fitness. You can choose from more than 50 different sports clubs that welcome international athletes and students who have never played sports before, such as rugby union, rowing, golf, cricket, sailing and tennis.
