HAWK University of Applied Sciences and Arts

The HAWK is a state university in Lower Saxony with more than 6,000 students. The university is regionally anchored and maintains excellent networks throughout Germany and the world. Its roots, which date back to the 19th century in Holzminden, for example, are where it all started.

History

Since its official foundation as a technical college (today a university of applied sciences and arts) in 1971, the HAWK has always kept up with the times. The 41 study programmes at the university are a good example of this. Their contents, practical relevance and teaching methods reflect what is expected in the professional fields today and in the future.

Education

We offer 23 Bachelor and 13 Master courses in six faculties and are currently significantly expanding our interdisciplinary approach.HAWK is a certified family-friendly university with model day-care services. Our goal is to provide for barrier-free studies and we bring generations together.

Research

With its research, the HAWK makes valuable contributions to the development of innovation for business and society. With three research focal points as shown on the research map of the German Rectors' Conference as well as other active research groups, the HAWK conducts forward-looking, application- and demand-oriented research at the highest level. In co-operation with universities, it supervises a disproportionately large number of doctorates.
