The focus is on excellence in teaching, the joining of theory and practiceand educating students to be lifelong independent learnersprepared to participate in an increasingly international society.Classes are small and interactive with a maximum of 20-25 students per class. Each student receives personal attention from the professors.

History

Founded in the U.S. in 1915, Webster University is an American University with a global perspective, which has grown to more than 100 campuses in 7 countries on 3 continents.The Vienna campus was established 1981. Webster Vienna is a truly international community with students representing 70 nations and faculty from over 20 nations.

Education

Webster University Vienna's faculty members are committed to the highest standards of teaching. In addition to their academic qualifications, many of the instructors are also employed in their fields of expertise, making courses relevant and bringing real-life experience into the classroom.A unique advantage of the American system is the flexibility it offers. Students plan their studies together with their academic advisors and can tailor their degrees to meet personal interestsand goals. Webster Vienna offers five starting terms per year and students can choose full-time, part-time and online studies.

Student services

  • Academic Advising: assists students with course selection and all related academic issues.
  • The Writing Center:a free service for all students, providing support in writing skills.
  • The Webster European Scholars Program: academically challenging and rewarding seminars and personalized, directed study courses for students with a minimum GPA of 3.5.
  • Webster LEADS: a certificate program for undergraduate students who wish to developleadership skills, methodologies, and ideas.
  • The Student Affairs Office: helps students with practical aspects of moving, such as housing, visa, and health insurance.
  • Counseling and Psychological Testing Services:a free service available to all students.

Housing services

Due to limited services in terms of accommodation/process of residency permit applications, Webster University would like to present following proposals from relocation companies designed especially for Webster students. Please contact them directly for further information and assistance with your transfer to Vienna. These relocation companies specialize in relocating, accommodation, visa issues etc.

With more than 10,000 books with an emphasis on the academic areas of interest at Webster as well as magazines and newspapers.

Medical services

If you are not already registered with the Austrian social insurance agency through other employment, you will automatically receive an ecard from the agency when we first register you. This card gives you access to the services of the Austrian social insurance system, including medical care through the national health care system and, eventually, participation in the Austrian pension system.

Webster has a unique international network of campuses that offers students the opportunity to do parts of their studies almost anywhere in the world within a single university system.Life at university is about more than classes, and many community events and activities are organized throughout the academic year.As an American institution, holidays such as Thanksgiving and the Fourth of July are annual highlights at our campus, and all students are invited.

Sports facilities

Other activitiesinclude barbeques, bowling, go-kart races, ski trips, paintball, andmuch more.Every year there is also a football tournament among thedifferent Webster campuses in Europe,with Vienna, Geneva, LondonandLeiden each taking turns hosting the event. In addition, there areseveral special-interest clubs and events for students to join.

The Student Government Association (SGA): an elected student body that organize events and support students in their creative and academic endeavors.

  • Webster University is accredited in the United States by the Higher Learning Commission. The accreditation includes undergraduate and graduate levels at all locations worldwide where the University offers programs.
  • Since 2001, Webster University Vienna has been accredited by the Austrian Accreditation Council as an Austrian Private University.
