History
Instead of a fully equipped library, the department initially made do with the reference books held by individual professors. However, the school was soon able to implement an extensive reference acquisition program, and 10 years later there were over 100,000 books on the shelves.
Research
One feature of research at Osnabrück University is the linking of different academic disciplines. In addition, scholars at Osnabrück University excel at generating national and European third-party funding. Four interdisciplinary institutes characterize the University’s research profile:

They measure the rate of students going to their second year of studies, as well as the rate of students who graduate. It also asks university representatives on the performance of universities, and evaluates university resources, teacher salaries, graduation rates, student academic achievements and satisfaction. After calculating and comparing these criteria, U.S. News ranks the top international universities accordingly.
Housing services
Osnabrück University Guest House (Manfred Horstmann-Haus der Internationalen Begegnung), with an area of 600 square meters, has ten apartments of various sizes with a total of 25 beds.
It contains:
• three one-bed apartments
• one two-bed apartment
• four three-bed apartments
• two four-bed apartments
All apartments are equipped with a toilet and shower, cooking facilities, internet access, a telephone and TV sets.
