History
The origin of the Lithuanian University of Educational Sciences can be traced back to 1935, when the first higher teacher training establishment of Lithuania, the National Pedagogical Institute, was established in Klaipeda. The Institute was intended to educate teachers for primary schools and to develop educational sciences throughout Lithuania.
Education
Lithuanian University of Educational Sciences offers degree study programes and non-degree courses. The main language of instruction at LEU is Lithuanian. However, there are number of Bachelor and Master degree study programmes taught in English and Russian languages.
Research
The University’s priority is the development of fundamental and applied research in the field of education. This includes subject didactics, education management, and lifelong learning promotion. In addition, the University undertakes research in the fields of social sciences, humanities, biomedicine, science and technology.

Main functions of the International Relations Office:
- Collect and disseminate the received information about international research and study programmes, international projects and events;Seek collaboration partners and funding sources for international projects and other research activities;Consult researchers and other university staff with international project applications;Participate in the organisation of conferences and other international events important to the whole university;Organise and administrate the exchange of students and staff through the EU programmes;Provide the university staff and students going abroad with assistance;
ICT services
Main functions of the office:
- Develop and manage the computer network of the university;Provide the university with email, wireless connection and other online services;Maintain the IT equipment of the administrative offices in working order;Maintain safe and continuous working order of the university’s main commutation equipment and servers;
The study programmes of LUES have been accredited by Center for Quality Assessment in Higher Education in Lithuania.
