Institution Info

Tallinn University is a public institution of higher education. Its main strengths lie in the fields of humanities and social sciences, but it also has a strong and constantly growing component of natural and exact sciences, as well as a notable tradition of teacher training and educational research.

Tallinn University is the third largest university in Estonia, consisting of 19 institutes and 5 colleges. It has more than 9500 students as well as more than 540 faculty members and research fellows, and is the fastest growing university in Estonia.

The university sees itself as providing an environment which encourages the intellectual and personal growth of all its members, faculty and students alike, and has proclaimed as its values academic quality (which involves combining research and teaching), solidarity and collegiality, procedural transparency and simplicity, openness (which involves significant internationalisation) and an outward focus on society instead of isolating itself in an ivory tower.

The University has committed itself to the strategic goal of becoming an international research university with a strong social conscience and a flexible and collegial environment for learning and personal growth, where considerable academic freedoms guaranteed to both the students and the faculties are balanced by strict quality requirements.

One of the main aims of the university is large-scale internationalisation – with its 13 academic degree programmes and a number of shorter programmes and courses offered in the English language it is already the most international university in the Baltic area, but this number will, according to our plans, increase significantly over the next few years. Many academic positions in the university are announced for international application and the University is glad to host international visiting scholars on their sabbatical leaves or by other agreements.

The international summer school of the university, organised independently or jointly with our international partners, has already achieved a notable reputation, and the university currently maintains 34 inter-university agreements with universities from 22 different countries all over the world and more than 400 Erasmus exchange agreements with 246 European universities.

The International Relations Office of Tallinn University will gladly answer any further inquiries you might have.

The Career and Counselling Centre has been created to support our students in their studies and offer different services to help them to gain success in the labour market and in personal life.

The Career and Counselling Centre - provides counselling for Tallinn University students experiencing personal, academic or vocational problems.
Services are primarily short-term in nature and referrals to other helping professionals and community agencies are made as appropriate. Strict confidentiality is assured. All the services are free of charge.
We conduct meetings and exchange information between students and employers. We organize different lectures, presentations and job fairs. We also administer the database of our students’ resumes. Students use this to help with seeking a job, and in this way organizations can find employees from various educational backgrounds.

We consider it highly important to get feedback from graduates and employers. It is important to receive information for developing and improving curricula and to obtain a greater understanding about the modern working world.

The Career and Counselling Centre also provides information and support for students with disabilities.
