Institution Info

Askham Bryan College has its origins in the formation of the Yorkshire Institute of Agriculture, which first accepted students in 1948. It became Askham Bryan College of Agriculture and Horticulture 19 years later. We have since diversified widely to include equine management, animal management, land management, food production and bioscience. Our main residential campus at York is one of the most attractive in the country. As well as providing all thefacilities you will need for your studies, it is also a great place to live and work. The landscaped grounds include not only the College's farm and horticultural unit but also woodlands, a small lake and excellent outdoor sports and leisure facilities for you to enjoy. The first class, purpose built equestrian facilities are exemplary, with both outdoor and indoor arenas, stabling for more than 25 horses, cross country course and demonstration areas to ensure a positive and safe learning environment. We are also only four miles from the lively and attractive historical City of York; Leeds is within easy travelling distance for more active nightlife. If you are new to the area you will find lots to discover, both in York and the North Yorkshire countryside with its spectacular moorlands, dales and coastline.
