What is Summer School Almere?
Summer School Almere is a joint initiative of the municipality of Almere and several Dutch / international institutions for higher education. Together they offer you a challenging summer programme in the beautiful city of Almere. All courses are offered by accredited, Dutch / international universities. Participation in the Summer School Almere is an academic, cultural and personal enrichment for students.
In 2011 Almere offers a number of academic programs also in the summer. Do you need to fulfill your summer requirements, do you have some catching up to do or do you just want to expand your intellectual horizon by a full immersion into Dutch innovative developments?

Almere is the newest city in the Netherlands. It was only 35 years ago that the first pile was driven and the first inhabitants - real pioneers - took up residence in the new polder town. Almere is now the fastest growing centre in the Amsterdam Metropolitan Area and is keen to maintain this reputation.
The city centre has developed rapidly the last few years. The numerous shops, restaurants, cafés and theatre make Almere a city that has it all! The Apollo Hotel is surrounded by these entertainment options. Shop, go for dinner, walk along the 'Weerwater' lake, watch a movie or dance in a club; the choice is yours!
But of course we try our utmost best to make your stay in the hotel as comfortable as possible. We are your home away from home.
We serve a good breakfast daily. We have created a special summer school ´livingroom´ for you where you can study or meet the other students. A microwave is available in this room for your convenience. In the foyer we have a computer with internet connection. Internet is free of charge in the entire hotel.
All rooms are fully furnished and decorated. The rooms are either single or double rooms.
Generally, housing is provided from the Sunday before the course starts, until 12 noon on the last Friday of the course. In case the course ends on a Thursday, your lodging is still available until the Friday.

Student Life
Summer School Almere not only offers you a fine selection of interesting courses, we also aim at giving you the experience of a life time! Therefore we invite all students during the months July and August to our attractive social programme, including excursions, sports activities, social gatherings and festivities. Every course starts with a city tour to introduce and welcome you to Almere!
Most of the elements of the social programme are for free, Summer School Almere offers you those moments of social integration. Other activities will require a small payment to participate.
The activities will provide the perfect setting for you to meet international students from other summer school courses, to get to know your classmates better and meet Dutch students as well!
