The main focus of the school is application-oriented clinical endocrinology within the following disease areas:
* Calcium metabolic diseases
* Fibrosis
* Obesity
* Metabolic syndrome
* Diabetes mellitus
* Cardiovascular risk factors
The aims of the PhD School of Endocrinology are:
* To establish a world class, international PhD programme in clinical endocrinology.
* To intensify the efforts of the involved parties (Nordic Bioscience and the University of Southern Denmark) to educate PhD candidates with a solid background in medical endocrinology.
* To organise a core curriculum covering courses in clinical endocrinology and molecular endocrinology.
* To build up a national and international network between leading researchers in the field of medical endocrinology
The school is financed by the Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Southern Denmark and Nordic Bioscience A/S so far for a three-year period from 1 August 2008 to 31 July 2011.
The PhD school will furthermore collaborate with a large number of well-esteemed researchers and private companies both nationally and internationally.
