Location of Reims Management School

Islamic Finance has known a phenomenal growth in the last decade, particularly in MENA and South-East Asia and recently in the West. It has become an important alternative banking and financing method all over the world. More than 300 Islamic financial institutions are operating in more than 70 countries. Their combined assets exceed $500 billions with an annual growth rate between 12% and 15%. The continued growth of this industry even during the financial crisis raises the problem of a shortage of specialists.

This Islamic Certificate is responding to the growing interest in Islamic finance. It provides the students with an opportunity to study the structure of the Islamic banking and finance industry, including its theoretical foundation, products, performance, Islamic financial instruments and risk management issues.

This 4-month programme is the French’s first collaborative programme in Islamic Banking and Finance, to be taught jointly with a respected university in Islamic Finance, INCEIF (International Centre for Education is Islamic Finance), Kuala Lumpur. The certificate complies with the CIFP Part1 (Chartered Islamic Finance Professional- INCEIF) offering the students the opportunity to access to a world renowned professional qualification.

Objectives

  • A comprehensive understanding of Islamic financial institutions (organisation, structures and Regulations) and its economic, financial and legal environment
  • Knowledge in the key areas of Islamic Capital Market in both theoretical and applied aspects

Student Life Near the City Center

10 minutes from downtown Reims, the 2 campuses have classrooms and amphitheaters, as well as simulation and language laboratories, clubs areas, a mediatheque, and student life facilities.
10 minutes from high-speed train (TGV) station, the school is thus at 45 mn from downtown Paris and 30 mn from Roissy CDG Airport.

Teaching Assessment

This Certificate is taught through a wide range of learning methods – lectures and group learning, case studies, conferences. To provide additional industry insight, some sessions are delivered by professionals from this business sector. These modules are assessed by examinations and coursework and they comply with CIFP (Chartered Islamic Finance Professional) Part 1.

Professional qualifications

Chartered Islamic Finance Professional (CIFP)

The degree covers 4 modules of the Chartered Islamic Finance Professional (CIFP) Part 1. In addition students who successfully complete these 4 modules shall be eligible to apply for exemptions for the equivalent CIFP modules from INCEIF. They shall then qualify to enroll onto the CIFP Programme, or other equivalent programmes at INCEIF. Students, who complete the Adapted Modules, shall be entitled, upon the exemptions being granted, to apply for student membership of the Association of Chartered Islamic Finance Professionals (“ACIFP”).

The CIFP is a collaboration of academia and industry knowledge and skills intended to bridge the demand-supply gap for the Islamic financial services industry. All course modules are designed to provide a platform for participants to exchange ideas and experiences with academics and industry experts. Thus giving participants a better insight in worldwide and cross-cultural perspectives for a robust Islamic Finance industry.

MSc Finance and International Banking

Islamic Banking and Finance Certificate is one of the options in MSc in Finance and International Banking. To be awarded this full MSc degree, students must obtain the Certificate of Finance and the specialised certificate in either Islamic Banking and Finance or International Banking.

This full time, 12-month programme, taught in English at the Reims Management School campus, aims at delivering knowledge in both conventional finance and Islamic banking finance industries. The academic programme includes over 400 learning hours, starting in October until May. Participants may attend the training courses for Finance Certificate dedicated for the CFA level I examination and Reuters Certification (optional) offered by the school.

You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test if you come from a non-English speaking country.

  • Acceptable English test score either TOEFL, TOEIC or IELTS, except for candidates who have obtained their undergraduate degree from English speaking countries or for English native speakers.

Funding details

Budget is an essential issue for students and their families. The following is a thorough – but not comprehensive – list of possibilities to assist you in organizing your search and finding sources of financing. The RMS Group Scholarship Department is available to students to provide information and advice. There is a wide range of possibilities, depending on your profile:

Higher Education Scholarships (For Sup de Co and Cesem students only) These scholarships are granted by the CROUS (Regional Center for Universities and Studies). They are awarded based on your parents’ last income tax statement.

City Scholarship

  • For students who are not from Reims: applications are available from your home city.
  • For students who are living at their parents' in Reims or living in Reims for at least 5 years: The application will be available at the Scholarships Service of RMS.

Scholarship from the Conseil Général de la Marne

  • For students who are not from Reims: applications are available from your department (Conseil Général).
  • For students whose parents live in Marne: information and application are available from Conseil Général website

Scholarships from the Conseil Régional de Champagne Ardenne

  • for Sup de Co and Cesem students only

RMS Foundation Scholarships(For French and foreign RMS students)

This scholarship can go up to 50% of annual tuition fees amount.
A committee meets 3 times a year to allocate the scholarships considering 2 criteria:

  • Academic excellence
  • real financial need

ERASMUS Scholarships granted by the European Union for study abroad

Within the framework of the European SOCRATES program, the European Commission provides ERASMUS student mobility allocations. Reims Management School participates in this program.
Award and amount of these grants are subject to certain European Commission rules:

  • The allocations per partner institute are limited to 60 student-months;
  • The monthly sum per students is at least 50 Euros (doubled for Scandinavian countries);
  • The stay abroad must last between 3 and 12 months;
  • The grant cannot be combined with other scholarships or grants from other European Community programs;
  • The grant covers only the academic year (from 1 July to 30 September of the following year);
  • The grant cannot be awarded to the same student two years in a row.

Further, the European Commission recommends that we take social criteria and equal opportunity into account. .

Jacques Lambert Foundation scholarship

For French students only.

Housing Aid

The Caisse d'Allocation Familiale (Family Allocation Service) pays housing aid (APL or ALS – social housing) under certain conditions (type of housing, income, rent, family situation, etc.).
