Surfing may be one of the most complex motor tasks to learn. Knowing this, we will take you on a journey through Europe to discover the latest findings about motor learning and performance. We will start in The Netherlands where you will learn the fundamental principles of motor learning and how these can be translated into useful tools for teachers and therapists. In a scientific setting your own balance skills will be pre-tested and you will be lectured by highly skilled teachers in the fields of motor learning, human kinetics and exercise physiology.
After one week we will move to Portugal to translate this knowledge into performance parameters. How do you make the step from basic motor tasks to physical activity in daily life, and vice versa? You will learn what makes surfing such a challenging sport and you will get the chance to master or learn how to surf in a way nobody in the world does! After this second week your balance skills are tested again to experience the effect of motor learning on your own body. Now, you will have the skills to interpret the outcome of your bodies behavior.
