The course provides the students with basic skills using the most common statistical models and analyzes in medical research.

Basic statistical concepts such as mean, standard deviation, model, estimate, test, p-value, and confidence interval. One and two sample problems, paired data, correlation, analysis of variance and covariance, and linear regression. Non-parametric methods. The binomial distribution, logistic regression, and analysis of cross tabulated data. Simple survival analysis. Model diagnostics. Power and sample size calculations.
We recommend that you bring your own laptop.
Prerequisites (recommended)
It is necessary to attend a short introductory course in the statistics programme "STATA", unless you are already familiar with this programme. You are also encouraged to attend the course on data documentation that will be held immediately before the biostatistics course. Epidemiology and biostatistics corresponding to the sixth semester course in the medical education. Familiarity with Stata or a similar statistical program corresponding to the postgraduate course Introduction to Stata is a prerequisite.
Dates and Times: Theory: 9-12am, Wednesday 23rd February, 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd, 30th March and 6th, 13th April
Exercises: Either Wednesday afternoon from 12.30- 16.00 or Thursdays: 24thFebruary, 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th, 31st March and 7th, 14th April from 9-12 or 12.30 - 16.00.
You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test.
Most European Universities recognise the IELTS test.
