Phase One of the training entails using a library of SCID training videos that are accompanied by "gold standard" consensus ratings to determine interrater reliability. These "gold standard" rating were established in consensus meetings by highly experienced, senior SCID trainers. During Phase One, the trainee will individually rate six SCID training videos, be given feedback on his or her rating using the "Gold Standard" training consensus, and participate in a discussion of discrepancies.
Phase Two of the training entails having the trainee conduct four "live" SCID assessments on actual patients who have psychiatric symptoms co-rated by a senior diagnostician. All SCID ratings and diagnoses made by the trainee will be subject to evaluation using overall kappa, kappa sensitivity, and kappa specificity. The minimum level of acceptable interrater reliability is an overall kappa score of .75, and kappa sensitivity and specificity of .75 or above across all videos and live administrations of the SCID. After training is complete, all raters will be entered into an annual Quality Assurance program to check interrater reliability and interviewer style during the entire course of the study.
Before course start participants will get the course materials that include: (1) SCID interview (Danish and English version), (2) SCID "User Guide", (3) SCID 101 video series (approximately 20 hours of video supplement with the SCID "User Guide").
