The Summer Course, held in English, deals specifically with the European system of human rights protection. Although there are numerous summer courses and other special study programs within Europe on human rights protection, this course provides an integrated treatment of the various European systems and specifically of European issues of human rights protection.

Short Course in Mediation and Other Methods to Foster Democratic Dialogue

Central European University (CEU)

Mediation is a newly emerging field in both the west and the east. Legislation mandating the use of mediation has outpaced the development of both theory and practice, and this course is designed in part to fill that gap, cultivating scholars, teachers, trainers, and practitioners in this developing and important arena. In a two-week course, the program facilitates the exchange of ideas and cooperative projects among mediation scholars, practitioners, trainers, and students in the East and West. In addition to providing an introduction to mediation, it provides a teaching and training template for scholars and practitioners from around the world to adapt for use in their home countries.

Short Course in Law, Society and Politics in Comparative Perspective

FUBiS is an intensive, academic program through which students can earn credits that may be counted towards their degrees at their home institutions. FUBiS sessions run for 4 to 6 weeks and take place both in summer and winter. The program offers intensive and semi-intensive German language classes at five different proficiency levels. In addition FUBiS offers subject classes on various class topics. These classes are held mostly in English by distinguished German and international faculty.
